Lead QA Automation

Quality Assurance (QA) remains a major challenge in software development. Despite over $20 billion spent annually on testing in Europe and the U.S., critical bugs still reach production, costing teams time, customer trust, and product momentum.

Skill level

Advanced (4-5 years of experience)

At QA DNA, we know quality engineering isn’t just about “catching bugs.” It’s about building software systems that work reliably in the real world, at scale, under pressure.

Now, we’re hiring a Lead QA Automation Engineer who will set the technical standard, lead by example, and push the boundaries of what quality engineering means in modern software development.

We’ll be upfront:
👉 On leadership and client management: you’ll get full support. We’ll give you the backing, the structure, and the environment to succeed.
👉 On the technical side: the bar is high. We need someone who’s fully on point: a software engineer at heart, hands-on, and passionate about building quality into every line of code.

And yes, because we value this role:
👉 We pay above market.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own the automation strategy: Define frameworks, tools, and practices that scale across multiple products and clients.
  • Stay hands-on: Write and review automation code, showing the team what technical excellence looks like.
  • Raise the quality bar: Integrate automation deeply into CI/CD pipelines and ensure production-grade reliability.
  • Mentor and guide: Support QA engineers and developers in growing their automation skills and mindset.
  • Collaborate with clients: Help them understand the value of quality engineering (with the backing of our leadership team).
  • Engineer for impact: Spot risks, anticipate failures, and design systems that prevent them before they happen.
Why Join QA DNA? 🚀
  • Above-market salary 💰 → Because your expertise deserves it.
  • All the support you need in leadership & client management → Focus on the technical craft, we’ll help you succeed in the rest.
  • Real ownership → Shape frameworks, influence teams, and set the bar for quality.
  • Career growth → Certifications, mentorship, exposure to top products & industries.
  • Flexibility → Hybrid setup, freedom to deliver in the way that works best.
  • Team culture → Bold thinkers, entrepreneurial engineers, no micromanaging.
Steps to becoming part of the team:
  1. Take-home automation challenge. It’s designed to show us how you think, not to trick you.

    Instructions are in the README.
  2. Submit your solution
Once you’re happy with it, send it our way (details in the README). We’ll review your code and get back to you quickly.

  3. Interview
If your work shows potential, we’ll set up a casual interview. Nothing too formal, just a chance to talk about your solution, how you work, and to see if the energy is right on both sides. 2 step interview online + physical

That’s it. No hoops. Just a chance to get to know each other through real work and honest conversation.

Perks and benefits
Employee Healthcare Benefits

Your well-being matters. We offer private medical coverage to give you access to trusted healthcare services whenever you need them.

Flexible Working Hours

We care more about the work getting done than sticking to a strict schedule. This is a hybrid role, so while some office presence is important for staying connected with the team, you have the freedom to work from home when you need to. You also manage your own hours, no fixed 9 to 5.

Professional Development Opportunities

We are committed to the growth of our employees through professional development opportunities. This includes access to training programs, workshops, and conferences that enhance skills and knowledge. Employees are encouraged to pursue certifications and further education, with financial assistance available for approved courses.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have:
  • Experience in automation & engineering: You’ve built and scaled test automation frameworks from scratch.
  • While Playwright is our go-to framework for web, we take a tech-agnostic approach, always prioritizing the right tool for the client’s success.
  • Hands-on technical leader: You love coding as much as you love guiding a team.
  • Big-picture thinker: You understand how quality impacts product delivery and customer trust.
  • Strong coder: Proficient in at least one core programming language, with the flexibility to learn, adapt, and own automation in other modern languages and frameworks as needed.
  • Passionate about the craft: You genuinely care about testing, automation, and building reliable systems.
  • Confident communicator: Can explain technical solutions clearly (we’ll support you on client-facing parts).
  • Bold mindset: You don’t settle for “good enough.” You push for excellence.
